Andy Beshear — the 63rd Governor of Kentucky, former Attorney General, proven leader — is showing the nation what empathy-first, bipartisan governance looks like.
A proven leader who delivers results for working families
Andy Beshear was born and raised in Kentucky. He earned his bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. Before entering public life, Andy practiced law and dedicated himself to serving his community.
He served as Attorney General of Kentucky from 2016 to 2019, where he fought to protect Kentuckians' health care and hold powerful interests accountable. In 2019, he was elected the 63rd Governor of Kentucky — and won reelection in 2023 in one of the nation's most deeply Republican states.
As Governor, Beshear has led Kentucky through devastating tornadoes, historic floods, and a global pandemic with empathy and competence — proving that you can win and govern effectively by treating people as neighbors, not political opponents. His philosophy: we don't see each other as Democrats or Republicans — we see each other as neighbors.
Fighting for Kentucky families on the issues that matter
Bringing record economic development to Kentucky — attracting new industries, supporting workers, and building an economy where every family has a fair shot at a good-paying job.
Investing in Kentucky's public schools, raising teacher pay, expanding universal pre-K, and making sure every child — from Pikeville to Paducah — gets a world-class education.
Expanding Medicaid access, protecting the Affordable Care Act, and fighting to keep rural hospitals open so no Kentuckian has to drive hours for the care they need.
Rebuilding Kentucky's roads and bridges, expanding broadband to every corner of rural Kentucky, and investing in the infrastructure that connects communities and creates jobs.
Leading Kentucky through devastating tornadoes, historic floods, and COVID-19 with empathy and competence — proving that crisis leadership means showing up and staying until the job is done.
As former Attorney General, Andy supports law enforcement while pursuing meaningful justice reform — keeping communities safe and ensuring the system works fairly for everyone.
Vetoing extreme abortion bans and standing up for women's right to make their own health care decisions. Reproductive freedom is about trusting women, not politicians.
After school shootings devastated Kentucky communities, Andy fights for commonsense gun safety legislation — because no parent should fear sending their child to school.
Expanding voting access in Kentucky through bipartisan election reform — proving that protecting democracy isn't a partisan issue, it's an American one.
Supporting a just transition for coal communities, investing in clean energy jobs, and ensuring Kentucky workers aren't left behind as the energy economy evolves.
Standing with unions, fighting to raise the minimum wage, and protecting the pensions that Kentucky's workers earned — because working families deserve a champion.
Proving that Democrats can win and govern effectively in deep-red states by focusing on results over rhetoric — and treating every constituent as a neighbor worth fighting for.
In Kentucky, we don't see each other as Democrats or Republicans. We see each other as neighbors — and we help our neighbors.— Andy Beshear
